Coming Soon to ClarkLindsey

We’re excited to expand the possibilities at ClarkLindsey with a new building project. A modern three-story apartment building with 38 catered assisted living and 26 memory care assisted living apartments will be complete in spring 2024, and another three-story apartment building with 45 independent living apartments is planned to open in 2025 and is already 90% sold! Also included will be an expanded wellness & social center.

Timeline of Our History

1964 and 1966

Two Visionary Women

Sisters Ethel Lindsey Clark and Maud Lindsey execute their wills, providing funds “for the establishment, construction and maintenance of a home for elderly persons.”

1977

Breaking Ground

Ethel Clark and Maud Lindsey set the foundation for ClarkLindsey by providing separate and generous bequests.

1978

Move-in Day

The first residents move into ClarkLindsey. The adjacent Health Center also begins operation at this time.

1979

Resident Council Forms

The ClarkLindsey Residents Council, the “voice of the residents,” meets for the first time.

1979

ClarkLindsey Fully Occupied

Original construction included 160 apartments, 40 beds licensed for skilled nursing care and 22 beds licensed for Sheltered Care.

1980s

A Dynamic Partnership with the University of Illinois 

Since its founding, ClarkLindsey has had a close relationship with the University of Illinois.

1989

Doubling Health Care 

ClarkLindsey doubles the size of Meadowbrook Health Center by adding two new wings. Architect Ikasen Glerum leads the project.

1990

Advancing Alzheimer’s Care

A special care unit for residents living with Alzheimer’s is established.

1990

A Gift to Fellow Residents 

Walter V. Kaulfers, a former professor at the University of Illinois and a resident at ClarkLindsey, passes away. He leaves his entire estate to ClarkLindsey to be used for the quality of life of its residents.

2009

A Unique Masterpiece

First-of-its-kind Masterpiece Garden developed in collaboration with ClarkLindsey, the University of Illinois and the Retirement Research Foundation.

2010

Grounds for an Award

Champaign County Design and Conservation Foundation presents ClarkLindsey with an award for excellence in landscaping.

2010

Best in America

U.S. News and World Report names Meadowbrook Health Center one of the best places for nursing home services in the country.

2010

Grand Opening 

Renewal Therapy Center opens at the Meadowbrook Health Center.

2012

A Volunteer Spirit

CLVolunteers forms. This group of ClarkLindsey residents, employees and friends gives back to the Champaign-Urbana community.

2013

A New Type of Independent Living 

Groundbreaking for Meadows Edge at ClarkLindsey. These luxury villas offer residents enhanced space and freedom.

2015

One of Eight

ClarkLindsey receives the prestigious designation as a Center for Successful Aging. Only eight centers in the country receive this honor.

2016

Award with Impact

ClarkLindsey receives the LeadingAge Illinois Community Impact Award for Ethel & Maud’s Table, an innovative community outreach program.

2017

A New Standard of Care

ClarkLindsey opens The Green House Homes. These innovative homes are single-story houses with room for 12 residents.

2020

atHome with Clark-Lindsey Launches 

This new program provides services to help people live independently in their homes.

2021

Clark-Lindsey Begins Expansion 

This new building project will feature independent living, assisted living and memory care residences, along with a Wellness Center and auditorium.
