If you’ve noticed some changes in an older family member and they seem to be struggling while living on their own, you may find yourself feeling stressed and worried — and it may be time to start researching care options. atHome Home Care and Home Nursing is a program that supports older adults, so that they can live safely and independently in their homes. Founded in 2019, atHome is designed to help older adults live as independently as possible in the place they feel most comfortable, while giving family members peace of mind. Since every individual is different, ClarkLindsey offers different care options to match each person’s needs and preferences.
Here are some of our frequently asked questions about atHome Home Care and Nursing.
What Makes atHome Different?
There are many qualities that make ClarkLindsey a leader in atHome Senior Care Services — from our experienced team to our wide range of specialties. One important advantage is that we provide “Caresharing” services. Unlike traditional home care, which is available only in 3-plus hour blocks of time, Caresharing can be offered in short, affordable 15–45 minute sessions to complete necessary care or household tasks. Caresharing is available 6 a.m.–11 p.m., 7 days a week, within the city limits of Champaign, Urbana and Savoy. To best meet the needs of your loved one, care is also available in a hybrid model, which is a combination of traditional and Caresharing visits.
What Are Home Services?
Home services are services you or a family member receive at home — like help with activities of daily living (hygiene, dressing, toileting), non-medical support like help with cooking, shopping and housekeeping. All of our home care services are available at all hours of the day or night for seniors residing in the Urbana, Illinois, area.
What Is Included With Home Nursing?
At ClarkLindsey, we offer comprehensive home nursing services from a team of experienced, qualified nurses. Your home nursing care plan will be designed to meet you or your loved one’s unique needs. For example, our nursing team can do IV infusions and injections, perform G-tube and ostomy care, and even advocate on your behalf with health care or insurance providers. Should a client’s needs change, we also offer care services on the ClarkLindsey campus, including assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing.
How Do Home Nursing and Home Support Differ?
Home support is the perfect solution for those who can live independently but require some assistance with everyday needs, like housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, grooming or transportation. Home nursing is medical care, so it goes beyond non-medical tasks to serve seniors with more advanced medical needs. You or a family member can receive both home support and home nursing, and people often require both types of care. For instance, someone recovering from surgery might need help with bathing and dressing (home support) while also needing wound care and medication management (home nursing).
Who Are atHome Home Care and Home Nursing Services Right for?
AtHome is right for anyone who wants to age successfully in their home, and studies have shown that 77% of people over 50 fall into that category. Our home support options are suited to people who can live more independently but also need extra help with everyday tasks, while our home nursing care is right for those who need skilled medical care. Both types of support can help seniors live as independently as possible in the comfort of their homes, while relieving their family members’ stress and providing them with peace of mind.
